Metacon powered by Gala takes place at DWTC this May
Metacon powered by Gala will be showcasing their favourite games and revealing some exciting news for their growing community in the region. This one-of-a-kind ‘metaverse to reality’, pop culture convention focusing on the latest in blockchain, esports, NFTs, Web3 and more, will take place at The Arena, Dubai World Trade Centre on 28 and 29 May. Gala Games, the Web3 gaming platform that provides players with the largest decentralised network of gamers in the world.
Unlike the usual blockchain events, Metacon’s pillars include: Gaming and Technology, which will showcase leading blockchain developers and the latest and upcoming games that will revolutionise gaming, viewing and streaming; Art, which will cover everything there is to know about the art of NFT, from its history, creation, buying, selling and even participating in various NFT auctions; Esports, which will showcase the most popular guilds competing against each other in the latest blockchain gaming tournaments; and Music and Entertainment, which will showcase how Web3 is reshaping the industry, from concerts in the meta universe, VR theme parks and endless entertainment options.
The two-day Metacon programme, prepared with the support of Ghaf Capital, a leading Emirati private equity firm specialising in blockchain gamification and Web3 projects, will feature an eventful programme spread across four key elements of the show: MetaStage, MetaConnect, MetaArena and MetaSpaces.
MetaStage boasts a line-up of A-list speakers, thought leaders and innovators in the blockchain world, including Dr Marwan Al Zarouni, a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Cryptocurrencies and CEO of the Dubai Blockchain Centre. Dr Al Zarouni has been instrumental in promoting the UAE’s position as a blockchain leader and has been a guiding force in strengthening the foundations of Metacon. Another global pioneer who will appear on the MetaStage stage is Blockchain president at Gala Games Jason Brink, a blockchain theorist, cryptocurrency evangelist and winner of the 2014 Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation / Global Development Network Award for creating ‘AidDollar’, a new blockchain-based solution to solve problems inherent in foreign aid. Other guest speakers include NFT artist Idriss B, known for his eye-catching 3D polygon sculptures across Dubai, and Feras Al Sadeq, Founding Partner of Ghaf Capital, with other guests to be announced soon!
For those looking to watch one of the region’s first invitational blockchain sports tournaments, MetaArena will host Axie Infinity, a digital pet universe in which players fight, grow and trade fantastic creatures called Axies. Eight to twelve of the world’s best international guilds will battle it out for a chance to win a cash prize pool of $50,000. There will be other community organised tournaments as well as gaming demos from Gala Games and Fight of the Ages (FOTA).
MetaSpaces will be filled with booths where you can discover and try out the latest blockchain/NFT games and get a closer look at some of the trendiest entities and personalities in the meta universe. MetaSpaces will feature special areas showcasing some of the biggest blockchain-based games such as FOTA, Medabots, Town Star, Spider Tanks and more; NFT Artist Alley, sponsored by Rakuza NFT Marketplace, which will showcase the first NFT project for manga and anime, which will be white-listed and only available at Metacon; and the BAPES Lounge, a central hub and networking area at Metacon where entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs can network and learn more about how to use and apply blockchain technology. In addition, the BAPES Lounge will feature exclusive NFTs from BAPES, the first meta investor club dedicated exclusively to the development of cryptocurrency companies created in the meta universe, and PLUCK, the world’s first and largest digital marketplace for cryptocurrencies and NFTs.
The final area of MetaSpaces is the NFT gallery, curated by Ethereal Collective, which will feature artwork and collections from top-notch artists, including Etherium Towers and World of Women, the blue-chip NFT. Expect displays from Arts Dao, the NFT Foundation, which is also a private club for the Web3 community of artists, investors and collectors; and The Red Monkey Family, an English-language sitcom featuring NFT created by Dubai-based animation house Zaini media.
Tickets for MetaCon will go on sale soon, and every ticket sold will give the buyer the opportunity to mint it and turn it into an NFT!
