DSO to hold its first E-Sport event
The Dubai Integrated Economic Zone Authority (DIEZ) has announced that Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), an integrated free zone technology park in Dubai, will hold its first E-Sports event in October 2022.
The E-Sports event is a collaboration between DIEZ and Seed, an ecosystem consulting company with extensive experience in E-Sports, blockchain and payments.
DIEZ and Seed will also collaborate with SiGMA, a major organiser of cybersport, artificial intelligence and blockchain events, to bring the annual DSO cybersport exhibition to Dubai. Together, they will also assess the feasibility of building the E-Sports Campus arena, which will serve as an educational academy for all stakeholders, including parents, gamers and corporate entities. It will also serve as a training facility for local, regional and international gamers as well as those interested in a career as a referee or commentator. Apart from hosting cyber sports tournaments, the Arena will provide an opportunity for young people to develop their technical skills and share their knowledge and passions in a controlled social environment.
His Excellency Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zone Authority (DIEZ), said: “The strategic objective of DIEZ is to ensure the growth of future industries in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to establish Dubai as a global hub for various sectors, including advanced technology. DIEZ, through DSO, is taking active steps to develop the E-Sports ecosystem in Dubai and make the emirate a global E-Sports hub, offering a vision, strategy and regulations for the industry to contribute to the local economy. This endeavour is part of Dubai Silicon Oasis’ efforts to develop modern technology industries at a time when technology is central to all sectors of the economy. Today, we are once again witnessing the forward-looking nature of Dubai and its ambition to lead the world in a nascent but growing industry.”
His Excellency further said: “In 2021, Dubai Silicon Oasis is set to become a knowledge and innovation hub, one of the five major urban centres under the Dubai Master Plan 2040. In line with this mandate, the DSO intends to support the development of the local e-sports ecosystem to attract entrepreneurs and investors to the area.”

The cybersport event, which will be held at DSO in October 2022, is expected to attract major international companies involved in cybersport, including professional teams, game developers, virtual reality platforms, sponsors, media, regulators, experts and investors.
