Dubai Islands in Nakheel’s new vision
Nakheel, Dubai’s leading global property developer, has unveiled a new vision for the Dubai Islands that will redefine waterfront living. Consisting of five islands with a total area of 17 square kilometres, the Dubai Islands have been designed to improve the well-being and lifestyle of residents and visitors.
Under the city’s Dubai 2040 Master Plan, Dubai Islands (formerly known as Deira Islands) will strengthen the emirate’s position as a global destination for residents, visitors and investors. Each island will have its own unique offerings: innovative living environments, cultural centres, recreational sports beaches and beach clubs – all in one interconnected location within easy reach of the city and airport. More than 80 resorts and hotels, including luxury and wellness resorts, boutique, family and eco-friendly hotels, will be located on the islands, supporting Dubai’s tourism and hospitality ambitions by increasing the number of hotel keys.
With more than 20 kilometres of beaches, including a Blue Flag certified beach, some two square kilometres of parks and open spaces, and first-class golf courses overlooking the Persian Gulf, the Islands will increase the length of beaches and areas set aside for public parks. A well-connected network of waterfronts and paths for water and road transport, walking and cycling supports Dubai City Master Plan 2040 in developing vibrant and healthy communities.
Naaman Atallah, CEO of Nakheel, said: “Dubai Islands is an integral part of the emirate’s future vision, focused on enhancing the health, happiness and well-being of residents and visitors, as well as providing the highest standards and diversity of urban infrastructure and facilities. The Islands will add to Nakheel’s portfolio of residential, retail, hotel and leisure developments, offering another destination within a destination.”
The Dubai Islands are located along Dubai’s north coast and are easily accessible by land and sea via road bridges and waterways. The islands are a short distance from Dubai International Airport, Dubai Creek, Jumeirah and downtown Dubai.
