The Dubai Future Experts programme consists of two modules, each lasting six months. Participants can progress from being a ‘Future Analyst’ to a ‘Future Practitioner’. The first programme of its kind, it is run by the Dubai Future Academy, a DFF initiative. It aims to develop future-oriented thinking in government and build a pool of certified Emirati futurists who can help shape the future of key strategic sectors in Dubai. The modules and content of the programme have been developed by leading national and global futures experts, academics, entrepreneurs and business executives.

The first level comprises five modules in an intensive programme that includes lectures, workshops and practical exercises on exponential foresight, scenario planning, super-forecasting, future integration and delivery, and visualisation of the future. Participants at the advanced level are engaged in the development of future research projects that enhance the role of their government agencies in implementing future-related strategies and projects.

The programme aims to develop skills such as horizon scanning, scenario planning, super-forecasting, strategic thinking and research skills. It also develops abilities in decision-making, policy-making, legislation, regulation and identifying opportunities to create new economic sectors.

The third cohort of the programme is scheduled to start at the end of September 2022. More than 800 applications have been submitted by senior and mid-level employees from 37 government agencies in Dubai, covering more than 20 different vital sectors, including logistics, economy, technology, healthcare, education, tourism, aviation and others.
