Gitex Global 2022 to show flight of electric vehicle eVTOL X2
The eVTOL X2 electric flying car, created by leading technology company Xpeng, will have its first public launch at the Gitex Global 2022 exhibition in Dubai.
The avant-garde two-seat flying car with vertical take-off and landing is equipped with an intelligent flight control system, so it can fly autonomously.
It produces no carbon dioxide emissions, can navigate in urban areas and at low altitudes, and has a maximum flight speed of 130 km/h.
Gitex Global 2022 will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from 10-14 October. It is the largest technology event in the world, with more than 5,000 companies taking part. The organisers expect more than 100,000 visitors from 170 countries.
In September, the Government of the United Arab Emirates agreed on a temporary licensing procedure for the operation of electric cargo aircraft. Thus, the region’s first cargo aircraft powered by clean electricity, without a carbon footprint, was granted a temporary licence.
According to a new study by consultancy Research and Markets, the global electric aircraft sector will grow by 14% to US$20bn by 2030 from the current US$6bn. Components for new electric aircraft are being actively developed and technologies are being introduced to transition to greener modes of air transport.
In October 2021, the United Arab Emirates set an ambitious goal of being carbon neutral by 2050. US$160 billion will be allocated to achieve this goal.
