Dubai Run waits for sports enthusiasts

The world’s largest free fun run and one of the highlights of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai, will take place along the iconic Sheikh Zayed Road on 20 November. Runners of all ages and fitness levels are invited to register and challenge themselves to run the course.

In the fourth edition of Dubai Run, tens of thousands of people will take to the giant urban running track with two routes to choose from: a 5km route suitable for families and runners of all abilities, or a 10km route for more experienced runners. Both begin near the Future Museum on Sheikh Zayed Street. The 5km route passes the Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera House and Burj Khalifa and is very flat, making it ideal for social runners and families with children. The 10km route follows Sheikh Zayed Street to the Dubai Canal, then back to the Mall and ends at Al Mustaqbal Street near DIFC. A longer route, it is more suitable for more experienced runners.

Last year, 146,000 runners, runners, cyclists and walkers took part in Dubai Run, setting a record number of participants and becoming the largest public fitness event in the world.  This year, even more participants are expected and there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to prepare and train, including the Halloween Family Run at Dubai Festival City on 29 October, the Mai Dubai City Half Marathon on 30 October, the Expo CIty Dubai Run on 12 November and the Dubai Women’s Run on 13 November.

This year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge will feature the largest line-up to date, with two fitness villages hosting exciting and inclusive fitness events throughout the month: DP World Kite Beach Fitness Village and RTA Last Exit Al Khawaneej Fitness Village, 20 community fitness centres, plenty of sporting activities and thousands of free classes across the city. Dubai Run is organised by Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Dubai Sports Council, with Mai Dubai as lead partner, Sun and Sand Sports, Etisalat by E&, Fitbit and Emaar as partners, Arabian Automobiles Co and Emirates Airline as official partners, Arabian Radio Network (ARN) as media partner and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Event Security Committee, Dubai Police and Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) as government partners.
