Double Like floating restaurant to be launched in Dubai

Off the coast of Dubai, the Double Like floating restaurant will be launched to feed burgers and lobsters to holidaymakers on yachts and boats. The restaurant, created by Aqua Pod, will set sail for its first cruise on October 31.

Holidaymakers will be able to order through a mobile app. Small boats will be able to come up (sail up) to the Double Like restaurant to place an order and there will also be a delivery service. The restaurant will be visible in the lagoon off The Palm Jumeirah.

Back in 2018, the world’s first floating supermarket of the international Carrefour chain began serving customers in Dubai waters. It is designed primarily for yacht crews and sportsmen on jet skis and speedboats, as well as beachgoers and bathers.

The supermarket serves customers on the water and delivers orders to Kite Beach, Jumeirah Public beach and Al Sufouh Beach. The range includes over 300 products, including food, snacks and beverages, as well as beauty and medical products.

Carrefour operates on a “swim and buy” concept six days a week, from 10am to 6pm, but the schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions. You can order either at the supermarket window or over the phone. In the second case, the order will be delivered within 45 minutes.

On 4 May 2019, the UAE’s first floating public transport station opened in Dubai Festival City. It serves sea voyages to Jaddaf and helps passengers transfer to the Metro Green Line and buses. The station can accommodate 25 passengers at a time.
