Expo City Dubai to set up fan zones for football fans

Two fan zones will be set up at the former Expo City Dubai to host World Cup fans. It is expected that they will be able to cater for more than 12 500 spectators at the same time.

The first Fan City site – on the site of Jubilee Park – will open on November 20 and will be able to accommodate 10,000 spectators. There will be a Budweiser tent, a hookah bar and huge screens for broadcasting.

The Jubilee Park will be open from 17:00 to 01:30 on weekdays and from noon to 01:30 on weekends. The entrance fee is AED 30.

Starting from December 3, fans will be able to enjoy an immersive projection show at Al Wasl Plaza. The matches will be broadcast live on four huge screens. The broadcasts will be complemented by in-game graphics on the surface of the Al Wasl dome.

Al Wasl can accommodate up to 2,500 visitors, including VIP guests. Visitors to the venue will receive free one-day passes to Expo City Dubai’s pavilions and attractions, which will be valid until December 31.

As previously reported, Dubai has been selected as one of six cities around the world to host sports fan festivals ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, which kicks off on November 20. As well as Dubai, the festivals will be hosted by London, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Seoul. In Dubai, the venue for the festivals will be the new Dubai Harbour.

All international events of the FIFA Supporters’ Festival will include live broadcasts of World Cup matches, according to a statement from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association. The programme will include performances by popular international DJs, local musicians and artists, as well as FIFA Legends performances.

Selected events will be accompanied by 4D sound – it will transport the audience into the stadium atmosphere. The BUDX FIFA Fan Festival will last for 22 days. Fans will be able to buy tickets online. A link to the official ticketing platform will be posted on FIFA+ shortly.

The fan festival runs from November 20 to 28 (from 12:00 to 03:00) and from November 29 to December 18 (from 15:00 to 03:00). It is worth recalling that the Mundial itself will last until 18 December.
