DOF wins Mastercard award

The Department of Finance, Government of Dubai (DOF) has been recognised by Mastercard as a ‘Leader in Digital Transformation in Government’. The award was presented at the inaugural Mastercard EDGE event, which honoured Mastercard partners in the region.

DOF was recognised for its valuable contribution to the development of the digitalisation programme within the Government of Dubai. The department has been hugely successful in enabling government customers, including individuals and corporations, to pay through smart payment channels using a variety of bank cards issued by leading global financial services companies such as Mastercard.

Jamal Hamed Al Marri, executive director of the Finance Ministry’s Central Accounts Sector, said: “We are proud to receive this recognition, which demonstrates our support for digital transformation and reflects the established strategy of the Government of Dubai to take the lead in digitalising its services. Digital Dubai, through its various institutions, plays a key role in the digital transformation, complementing the efforts made by all relevant government agencies to achieve its strategic objectives. We will continue our positive partnership with Mastercard and continue our efforts to develop innovative financial solutions that align with our values of innovation and competitiveness.”

Receiving the award on behalf of DOF, Amna Mohamed bin Lutah, director of the Smart Financial Services Division, added that this recognition is the culmination of years of efforts to enhance the digital transformation of government, develop smart financial services and digitise payments.

As part of the strategic cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Mastercard, both parties will continue to develop financial services and products for the Government of Dubai. They are firmly committed to supporting smart initiatives aimed at accelerating digital transformation at the government level and improving the efficiency of daily financial transactions.

Mastercard has made a worldwide commitment to financial inclusion, pledging to engage 1 billion people and 50 million micro and small businesses – with a focus on 25 million women entrepreneurs – in the digital economy by 2025.
