Dubai Holding SkyRun 2022 kicks off tomorrow
Final preparations are underway for the hundreds of participants who have signed up for one of the most anticipated events in Dubai’s fitness calendar – Dubai Holding SkyRun 2022.
With just one day to go before the start of the 17th edition of Dubai’s only official staircase race, the runners taking part are feeling equally excited and nervous this coming Saturday.
Held in partnership with the International Skyrunning Federation (ISF), Dubai Sports Council, Al Jalila Foundation and the Jumeirah Emirates Towers complex, where the event will take place, the Dubai Holding SkyRun has become a popular element of the annual monthly Dubai Fitness Challenge. Run in three categories: Elite, Open and Team (four-person), amateur runners can tackle 52 floors and 1,334 steps alongside professionals in aid of Al Jalila Foundation’s Majlis Al Amal.
This year’s Dubai Holding SkyRun will also include the first ever ISF Stairclimbing World Championships, with 21 professional athletes competing in the Elite category.
International Stairclimbing Federation president Marino Giacometti said: “We are very excited about the inaugural ISF Stairclimbing World Championships, which will be held on Saturday at the Dubai Holding SkyRun course. After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our top Vertical World Circuit® athletes can’t wait to get out on the ladder and compete for the world title and medals. Of course, the championship is an open one, so you never know if you’re in for a surprise win. We wish all participants an exciting event!”
Dubai Holding will award the top three male and female runners in the Elite and Open categories, as well as the top three teams in the Team category at this year’s SkyRun. The group will also celebrate the participation of people with determination in the race. The top three male and female runners in the Elite category as well as the fastest team in the Teams category will receive cash prizes from Dubai Holding.
