Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament announces the winners

His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), has crowned the winners of the 10th edition of the Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament at a ceremony held at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library. The 10th edition of the tournament, the largest to date, saw a record number of female athletes – over 1,500 – compete in 10 sports between November 7 and 21, 2022.

His Highness expressed his sincere gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum for sponsoring this major sports tournament and supporting Emirati women in general and women’s sports in particular.

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed said: “The Dubai Sports Council organises sports competitions throughout the year to support and empower women in sport. This annual tournament is high on the agenda of the Council and the sports sector due to its role in promoting sports and developing the skills of our athletes. It has become the most important annual event for women’s sport. In ten years, over 360 public and private institutions and companies and over 7,000 athletes have participated in the Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament.”

Participation in the Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament is open to Emirati and non-Emirati women working in the government, semi-government and private sectors.

Dubai Police led the medal standings, finishing the tournament with eight medals in various championships: first place in the 20km cycling event, first three places in the 30km cycling event (open category), first place in the CrossFit championship (resident category), first place in the badminton championship (citizen category), second place in padel tennis (citizen) and third place in bowling (citizen).

Athletes representing the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) won six medals: second and third place in chess championship, second place in CrossFit championship (nationals and residents), third place in track and field (nationals) and third place in squash championship. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) players in Dubai won five medals: first place in the padel tennis championship (residents), first place in the e-games championship, second place in cycling (residents), third place in 20km cycling (residents) and third place in the CrossFit championship (residents).

The players of the General Directorate of Residents and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA-Dubai) won five medals: first and second place in bowling, first and second place in table tennis and third place in padel tennis. Dubai Municipality won three medals: second and third place in padel tennis (residents) and third place in e-games championship.

The tenth edition of the tournament included ten sports: Bowling held at Dubai International Bowling Centre in Al Mamzar, Athletics race held at Meydan Racecourse, 20km and 30km cycling races held at Meydan Racecourse, Padel Tennis at Paddle Club Point in Al Kuz, CrossFit, at the Luna Women’s Sports Club, squash at the Dubai Women’s Club, badminton and table tennis at the Al Nasr Sports Club, chess at the Dubai Chess Club and electronic games at Dubai Council Headquarters.
