Travel trending for UAE National Day 2022
dnata Travel has named the most popular holiday destinations for UAE National Day 2022. In order of popularity, the top five most booked destinations include the UAE, Maldives, Thailand, the UK and Saudi Arabia.
The majority of UAE travellers (78%) choose to holiday abroad for the much-anticipated 2022 holiday. Meanwhile, domestic travel continues to be popular with the country’s longest-running travel provider, with beach holidays in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah trending upwards.
Amid rising demand for international travel this summer, Thailand is showing the most growth as a tourist destination from the UAE compared to 2021, as it continues to enjoy significant demand after reopening to tourism.
Meerah Ketait, head of retail and leisure in the UAE at dnata Travel, commented, “The UAE, Maldives and Thailand are driving the beach holiday trend for local travellers this UAE National Day. International travel continues to be in unprecedented demand and dnata Travel’s strong partnerships in Asia and the Indian Ocean have provided a selection of special offers for UAE National Day.
Our special offers, including over 50% savings on bookings at world-class resorts on some of the most beautiful beaches on the planet, contribute to the majority of bookings.”
Stays in Mauritius and Bali also make the dnata Travel ‘top ten’ rankings, followed by cooler city tours, where the ‘holiday markets’ trend is starting to emerge.”
The emergence of the UK in the ‘top five’ holiday destinations for UAE National Day reflects the growing trend of dnata Travel customers choosing to stay in hotels near the world’s most famous holiday markets and other events. Leading the way in 2022 is London’s iconic Winter Wonderland, where magnificent Hyde Park is transformed with bright lights, an ice rink, rides, street food, live music and more.
European cities Prague, Vienna and Berlin are on dnata Travel’s list of the most popular places to search, query and book amongst UAE travellers. Known for their ever-popular traditional holiday markets, many have been in operation for decades and are now open for winter 2022.
Holidays in the cities of Jeddah and Riyadh are also in increasing demand, as Saudi Arabia has made it easier for UAE residents to obtain a visa. Its major cities are a great starting point for travel to the Kingdom’s tourist hotspots, and tourist arrivals continue to grow. Riyadh’s ‘Riyadh Season’ activities are in full swing, including the annual Riyadh Winter Wonderland theme park. In addition, the highly anticipated MDLBEAST SOUNDSTORM22 music festival returns to the city from December 1 to 3, with hundreds of DJs and headliners including DJ Khaled, Bruno Mars, Post Malone and Solomun.
