Dubai Verse Cup: world’s first metaverse racing

In line with the Dubai Metaverse Strategy launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, with the aim of making Dubai one of the world’s top 10 metaverse economies and a global hub for the metaverse community, Dubai Racing Club (DRC) will be the world’s first racing jurisdiction to embrace the metaverse as it launches the Dubai Verse Cup (DVC), a metaverse-based gaming platform, on Sunday, January 15.

In line with Dubai’s pioneering role in adapting and promoting new technologies, DRC and its exclusive technology partner, DVCC Meta Technology, have developed a gaming platform that will draw on the real world of thoroughbred racing. DVCC Meta Technology will also sponsor a seven-race card, the eighth meeting of the season at Meydan Racecourse on Sunday.

The Dubai Verse Cup will allow users to immerse themselves in seamless racing scenes and experience the tension and stimulation of the sport using their smartphones and VR/AR devices. Owners of DVC digital assets, such as NFT synthetic horses, can track their development as they race and breed, earning tokens based on their performance. Players can create or join a ‘family’ to participate in collective events and earn rewards while enjoying a rich meta universe.

On Sunday, the racecourse will host four races, including two AED95,000 handicaps, at 1,400m and 2,000m, which will give some Dubai World Cup contenders a chance to earn a place in the big leagues. The thoroughbred Arabian races will open with a 1,600-metre competition for the unbeaten in the three heats, as well as handicaps in the 1,200 and 1,900 metres for Thoroughbreds.

The races will start at 6pm. Admission for all entrants starts from AED 2, the price for the premium stand is AED 50 and tickets for guests start from AED 265. To book tickets, visit Dubairacingclub.com.
