Intersec Awards 2023 honours stars in safety, security and fire protection

The winners of the Intersec Awards 2023 were announced at a gala dinner at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, DIFC. The winners included Dubai Police, UAE-based Atos and Protec Fire Detection from the UK, as well as representatives from Aman Security Training and NAFFCO.

The Intersec Awards, which recognises people, products and companies for exceptional achievement in fire, safety and security across ten categories, attracted nearly 1,300 entries.

The People category recognises those who challenge industry standards, have an exceptional knack for inspiring change and making a significant difference, and have achieved great success as an industry expert in their particular field. The award for Outstanding Industry Commitment went to Adil Abdel-Hadi of Aman Security Training for actively promoting professionalism in the security industry in the Middle East and Africa. One of the ways he achieved this was by introducing City & Guilds accredited training courses for the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) and Dubai Police Academy, which have helped over 200,000 students.

Other winners in the People category of the Intersec Awards include Les Allan, chairman of the Association of University Security Chiefs, who was named international leader of the year; Khalid Al Khatib, CEO of NAFFCO, was selected as regional leader of the year and Essa Ahmed Al Mutawa of Dubai Civil Defence was named a rising star, winning the Young Emirati Achiever award.

National Security Product of the Year went to D-Fend Solutions for its EnforceAir anti-drone technology, while OPTEX’s REDSCAN pro lidar series from OPTEX Europe won in the Commercial and Perimeter Security Product of the Year category. Secure Logiq was recognised for its carbon offsetting efforts in the electronic security systems sector, winning the Security Service of the Year Award, while the Cyber Security Service of the Year Award went to Atos for its managed detection and response services based on its artificial intelligence platform, Alsaac.

The Sustainable Fire Safety Product of the Year award went to Detectionloop’s Eco Land and Eco Sea products, while the Fire Product of the Year award went to Protec Cirrus HYBRID aspirating fire and smoke detector from Protec Fire Detection. The chnnl analytics platform, designed to help organisations create meaningful wellbeing and psychological safety strategies, won Safety Product of the Year, while a special award for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Community Service and Wellbeing’ was presented to Dubai Police for a discovery service that takes advantage of artificial intelligence and digital technology.
