Dubai Mall changes its name

The Dubai Mall has announced a name change after 14 years in operation, announcing the change on social media site TikTok. It is now simply called Dubai Mall – without the article ‘The’.

Despite the name change, it is still a favourite shopping mall for residents and visitors to Dubai. Social media users reacted to the news in different ways – some were delighted, others were saddened.

Some subscribers pointed out that they were unaware that the mall had an article in its name. The mall is now actively changing its name on social media platforms TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.

Dubai Mall is the most visited shopping and entertainment centre in the world, welcoming more than 100 million visitors annually. It is home to more than 1,200 retail outlets, as well as over 200 international restaurants.

The mall is a true fashion oasis. It houses 70 of the world’s most prestigious fashion brands, including the Middle East’s first department stores, Bloomingdale’s and Galeries Lafayette. The Fashion Avenue section showcases couture fashion from the likes of Versace, Burberry and others.

The Gold Souk section offers jewellery and the Level Shoes section offers a wide range of shoes. Dubai Mall is also ideal for family entertainment, offering the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, the Dubai Ice Rink, the KidZania Education Centre for children and finishing off your day with a movie in a multiplex cinema.

The waterfall fountain and The Village section, where you can take a walk outdoors during the winter months thanks to the retractable roof, are particularly noteworthy. The mall building is directly connected to the five-star Address Dubai Mall hotel, which is unusually convenient for guests wishing to shop.

In 2019, the mall was expanded by almost 15,000 sq m with the opening of an additional building, Dubai Mall Zabeel. It houses many new restaurants and shops, as well as parking for 3,000 spaces. The buildings are connected by an air-conditioned covered pedestrian bridge.
