Dubai Global Wedding Excellence Forum held in January

Dubai is fast becoming the city of choice for weddings, with an increasing number of wedding and event planners around the world recommending the city to couples as the ideal destination for their wedding celebrations. The city’s world-class infrastructure, picturesque resorts, luxurious hotel offerings, services, exceptional security scores and diverse tourist attractions have made it an ideal destination for unforgettable social events.

As part of efforts to showcase Dubai as a wedding destination, the city hosted the 5th edition of the Dubai Global Wedding Excellence (GWE) Retreat and Forum on 9-10 January. The event attracted widespread attention from industry experts and wedding planners, event and wedding planners, as well as companies specialising in the provision of wedding facilities and services.

The annual Dubai Global Wedding Excellence (GWE) retreat and forum provides a platform for experts, professionals and influencers from the wedding, lifestyle and event industry to network, exchange ideas, share best practices and explore new ways to host unforgettable weddings and anniversary celebrations.

More than 70 international wedding planners, experts and companies from key markets attended the event. Representatives from Dubai’s traditional and emerging markets, including the Middle East, Africa and Asia, as well as India, the UK and the US, actively participated in the retreat. The event featured 11 hotel groups in the city, including their new and ‘off the beaten track’ venues, as well as 12 major wedding industry suppliers.

The event highlighted Dubai’s vibrant culinary landscape, with MICHELIN-starred restaurants such as Hakkasan showcasing their wedding catering capabilities. The event also shed light on the many unique wedding venues in Dubai. Hotels such as Atlantis, The Palm; Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah; Madinat Jumeriah; Terra Solis; W Dubai The Palm; Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah; Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah; Sofitel Dubai The Palm; Armani Hotel Dubai; Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Dubai; and The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai participated. Other key industry players attending the event included Equifax, Encore, Wild Goose, FnP UAE, LiveInFive, Vidira, Royal Tent, Red Velvet, Soundkraft, Pure Magic and Event Houzz, Pangea, ALR, Party Social and Melrish.

This year’s GWE also featured the founders and executives of international digital wedding platforms such as Arabia Weddings, Guides for Brides, Beyond Weddings, Weddings Online and Smashing the Glass. By providing a platform for communication between industry players, the event sought to increase the global visibility of Dubai’s wedding offerings.
