Dubai Marathon to be held at Expo City Dubai

The Dubai Marathon Organising Committee has announced that Expo City Dubai will host the global long distance running event on 12 February 2023. Organised with the support of the Dubai Sports Council and the cooperation of various government agencies, the 22nd edition of the iconic race will bring together runners from around the world.

Expo City Dubai, with its unique architectural wonders and open spaces, represents an exceptional new venue for the Dubai Marathon. According to the organizing committee, the city was chosen as the venue for the marathon because it embodies Dubai’s vision of being a bridge between cultures and its values of peaceful coexistence and tolerance. A legacy of Expo 2020 Dubai, a global celebration of culture, technology and innovation that has attracted over 190 countries and over 24 million visitors, Expo City Dubai is a people-focused city of the future that offers a unique plan for sustainable urban planning. The marathon will bring together elite athletes from around the world after a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic.

Expo City Dubai offers extensive marathon venues as well as ample parking facilities. The Dubai Marathon includes three races: a full marathon of 42.195 km, open to runners over the age of 18; a 10 km road race, open to runners over the age of 15; and a fun run of 4 km, open to all.  More information about the routes of the three marathon races will be announced by the Organising Committee in the near future.
