Medlab Middle East exhibition opens

His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of Dubai Academic Health Corporation, officially opened the four-day Medlab Middle East 2023 exhibition and congress.

The largest medical laboratory exhibition in the MENA region showcasing cutting-edge technology, the 22nd Medlab Middle East will be held under the slogan “Paving the way for advanced laboratory knowledge”. More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the four-day event, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from February 6-9.

This year’s Medlab Middle East saw a 100% increase in the number of exhibitors from 40 countries, bringing the total number to over 700. These exhibitors will showcase the latest and most innovative technologies in the laboratory industry. In addition to the exhibits, over 130 regional and international speakers from 12 Continuing Medical Education (CME) conferences will be presenting keynote speeches, scientific lectures and industry briefings.

His Highness toured the venue accompanied by His Excellency Helal Saeed Al Marri, Chairman of DWTC. During the tour, Sheikh Mansour visited the German and Chinese pavilions as well as the stands of Abbott, bioMérieux, One Health, Beckman Coulter and Randox. His Highness was briefed on the evolution of the conference over the years and the latest technologies on display at this year’s event.

With 13 conferences, the Medlab Middle East Congress is the world’s largest multi-disciplinary medical laboratory congress with CME accreditation, offering ideas and solutions to enhance laboratory capabilities. The congress will feature more than 130 local and international speakers and over 5,000 delegates are expected. The congress will feature eight core areas of laboratory conferences as well as four new ones: point-of-care testing (POCT), technological advances and clinical impact, emerging trends in laboratory medicine, laboratory quality management and laboratory sustainability.

On the opening day of Medlab Middle East, new elements corresponding to the theme of advanced technology and sustainability in the laboratory were presented. The conference “Sustainability in the Clinical Laboratory” started with introductory speeches discussing how laboratories can implement environmentally friendly methods and reduce their environmental impact. The conference also touched on workforce diversity and inclusiveness and provided a roadmap for creating a culture of sustainability in clinical laboratories in the Gulf region.

Medlab Middle East will feature the debut of Labpreneur, which will showcase the most innovative medical laboratory start-ups from around the world, solving outstanding problems and transforming the laboratory industry. The winner will be announced on the final day, Thursday 9 February.
