DFWAC launches childcare villa
The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) opened a new multi-purpose children’s villa designed to support the development and strengthen the physical and psychological well-being of children deprived of parental care.
The new facility was opened as part of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to provide a safe and secure environment for children who have been deprived of the protection and guidance of their caregivers.
The new building aims to provide vulnerable children with full access to the care, support and resources they need to grow and develop. The villa, which can accommodate up to 14 children, provides accommodation and care for male children aged three to 11 years and female children up to 13 years.
A full range of services is also provided, including housing, psychological, social, legal, medical and educational support. In addition, the Villa hosts various activities, recreational programmes and initiatives aimed at empowering children.
The inauguration of the new building was attended by H.E. Abdullah Al Basti, Secretary General of Dubai Executive Council, and H.E. Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Chairman of Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.
H.E. Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi said that the opening of the new facility was in line with the guidance of the UAE leadership to support and respect the rights of children to live in a safe and nurturing environment that meets all their needs and promotes their well-being.
Al Muhairi praised the successful partnership between the Foundation and the Dubai Police, the Juvenile Foundation, the Community Development Authority and noted that the UAE has adopted numerous laws and regulations to protect the rights of children.
Sheikha Saeed Al Mansouri said that the Dubai government has always been active in enacting laws and regulations to protect children’s rights and ensure that they are raised in a nurturing environment that promotes their well-being, regardless of their race or beliefs.
The Acting Director General of the DFWAC added that the opening of the institution was the culmination of the UAE’s tireless efforts to protect the rights of children and promote their growth and development in a safe environment that meets their needs and aspirations.
