Dubai Fashion Week kicks off in d3

The official Dubai Fashion Week, which kicked off last month at a private event with dignitaries, government officials and media covering fashion and culture, is emerging as the region’s premier fashion event. This inaugural edition will feature new runway show spaces and venues, as well as citywide events featuring global brands and local regional talent, reinforcing Dubai’s presence as a global fashion hub and international benchmark for the entire industry.

Dubai Fashion Week builds on the successful legacy of Arabian Fashion Week. The new official fashion event, which will take place from Friday, March 10 to Wednesday, March 15, 2023, will attract international collaborators, designers and visitors. Following Paris Fashion Week in Dubai, a large number of media and buyers will gather for the Autumn-Winter 2023/24 collections show.

During the week, a range of exciting new initiatives will be launched to celebrate the first official Dubai Fashion Week and its vision to further develop Dubai as a global fashion capital, on a par with Paris, Milan, London and New York.  Specifically, a Dubai Fashion Week steering committee, a buyers’ committee and a standing committee of designers will be established under the guidance of the Arab Fashion Council to ensure that the ambitious goals and vision for Dubai Fashion Week are achieved and to provide dynamic and sustainable direction for the new Dubai Fashion Week.

Dubai Fashion Week will provide a platform for regional designers to do business with international buyers and distributors, and serve as a gateway for international talent and brands to continue to expand their global presence in the regional market.

The six-day event, to be held from 10-15 March, will present a packed schedule with the following highlights:

Friday 10 – Saturday 11 March Men’s Autumn-Winter 23/24

Sunday 12 – Tuesday 14 March Women’s ready-to-wear autumn-winter 23/24

Wednesday 15 March Women’s ready-to-wear couture spring-summer 23

In addition:

– 45 shows and events featuring global brands and designers from the Arab world and beyond over six days to celebrate the first citywide fashion event.

– In addition, fashion industry guests will be able to attend special ceremonies and parties organised at numerous venues.

– On 14 March there will be a series of panel discussions between regional and international buyers to discuss market trends. These discussions will be attended by leading industry figures such as Antonioli (Milan), Printemps (Paris) and Level Shoes (Dubai).

– The schedule also includes a designer lookbook review aimed at helping aspiring DFW designers increase their profits.

– The public can stay up-to-date with current events on the DFW website – https://dubaifashionweek.org/calendar/.

The busy week will also be marked by a global collaboration between Hot Wheels and Anomalous, the first Arabic brand to collaborate with the iconic name. This is part of a growing synergy between the Arab Fashion Council and Mattel and follows the collaboration between Barbie and Lebanese designer Jean-Louis Sabaji last October.

Dubai Fashion Week will continue its existing and successful collaboration with Arab Fashion Week partners, with Microsoft and Windows becoming the official technology partners, Meta the main media partner, Schwarzkopf the official hair care partner, Kiko the official make-up partner and Electra the official production partner. In addition, Dyson will host a full activation of the event to celebrate becoming the official Dubai Fashion Week hair technology partner.

The Arabian Fashion Council and Dubai Design District (d3) and the purpose-built structure for the shows, as well as an expanded line-up of events and experiences, will mark Dubai’s positioning as the new fifth fashion capital, as a global fashion hub and international benchmark for the entire industry.
