International Federation of Falconry and Racing headquarters to be in Dubai
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the International Federation of Falconry and Racing, congratulated His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on signing the agreement to host the permanent headquarters of the International Federation of Falconry and Racing in Dubai. The new federation is a pioneering initiative by the UAE to develop falconry worldwide.
In September 2022, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, issued an order establishing the International Federation of Falconry and Racing as an independent international sports organisation with a permanent headquarters in the UAE.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed expressed his appreciation for the efforts of various stakeholders and institutions to promote the traditional sport of falconry and raise its profile in the world. The signing of the agreement to host the headquarters of the International Falconry and Racing Federation is part of the UAE’s strategic plan to enhance its status as a hub for global governing bodies of the sport. His Highness said it also reflects the leadership’s desire to revive and develop traditional sports such as falconry by introducing supportive initiatives and legislation. “This traditional sport would not have developed in the UAE without the remarkable support of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan,” he added.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, dignitaries and officials discussed the transformative impact of the International Federation of Falconry and Racing on the global development of the sport. The meeting, held last December to announce the new federation, was attended by representatives from 11 organisations from 10 countries from four continents.
