Dubai Metro Music Festival comes to conclusion

The third Dubai Metro Music Festival came to a successful conclusion after a week-long celebration of world music, during which five Dubai Metro stations were transformed into stages for live musical performances. The festival was organised by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Dubai Government Media Office (GDMO), in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The Dubai Metro Music Festival was held from 6-12 March at five Dubai Metro stations: Union, Mall of Emirates, Burjuman, Dubai Financial Centre and Sobha Realty. More than 800,000 passengers who visited the five metro stations during the week enjoyed exciting musical performances by 20 local, regional and international musicians presenting unique sparks of creative talent in a wide range of instruments, genres and styles.

The festival received extensive media coverage: 750 local and international news items covered its events. In addition, more than 1,000 social media posts related to the festival generated significant online coverage, with a combined reach of more than 136 million followers on various social media platforms.

Artists from Egypt, India, France, Thailand, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Cuba, the UK, Lebanon, Canada, the Netherlands, Jordan, Australia, the UAE and other countries – ranging from traditional to experimental musicians – took part in the festival.

This year’s Dubai Metro Music Festival focused on the theme of sustainable development in line with the UAE’s declaration of 2023 as the ‘Year of Sustainable Development’. During the festival several musicians demonstrated their talents using instruments made from recycled materials, which gave their performances a special flavour. This creative approach helped raise awareness of sustainability and highlighted the importance of using environmentally friendly materials.
