Abu Dhabi establishes culinary investment fund
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi) has announced the establishment of a US$100 million culinary investment fund to help attract iconic restaurant brands to the United Arab Emirates capital.
The fund will also create a culinary school that will train staff to serve gourmet foodies. The Abu Dhabi Culinary Investment Fund (ADCIF) aims to take the capital’s gastronomy industry to the next level by bringing in top chefs, restaurants and other culinary institutions. All this will help create new gastronomic experiences for visitors to the emirate.
Hotel managers in Abu Dhabi, event organisers and tourism companies, as previously reported, are now required to inform the local government of all events where alcoholic beverages are sold and served.
A circular to this effect has been issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi). In order to serve alcohol at an event, organisers will need to complete a form and obtain permission.
In September 2022, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism launched a new strategy to attract international weddings to hotels in the emirate. Resorts will promote their capabilities to host grand celebrations in overseas markets.
The Destination Wedding strategy is being implemented by the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau (ADCEB), which is asking the capital’s hotels and resorts to arrange study tours for media and opinion leaders who can tell the world about their capabilities.
It also recommends upgrading the room category or offering discounts to anyone who chooses a hotel for a gala event. Another tip is to close the hotel completely for private weddings and be more flexible with the music policy.
