Careem to offer free bike hire

Careem bikes will be available for free at any of its 186 docking stations in Dubai, a promotion the transport operator has launched to mark World Environment Day. The promotion will run for 10 June, with a maximum ride time of 45 minutes.

A bicycle can be rented an unlimited number of times during the day. The bike can be selected from the Careem mobile app by selecting a one-day pass and entering the promo code Free. Although the app will ask for credit card details, no fee will be charged.

Careem bikes are available in City Walk, Business Bay, Dubai Media City, Karama, Al Mankhool and Kite Beach areas. Earlier, Dubai authorities urged the public to lead a healthy lifestyle and exercise more.

Earlier, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority announced the opening of a new bicycle tunnel in Meydan area with a capacity of 800 two-wheelers per hour.

The tunnel is 160m long and 6.6m wide, and its opening is part of the government’s efforts to make Dubai a cycling-friendly city, as well as encouraging locals to adopt an active lifestyle.

The new tunnel has made the Meydan cycle lane even more convenient for athletes and enthusiasts – traffic is now flowing smoothly. The tunnel is illuminated at night. The total length of bicycle lanes in Dubai is expected to reach 819 km by the end of 2026.
