Jaddaf Waterfront Park to launch interactive playground
Dubai Culture and Art Jameel will open an interactive playground at Jaddaf Waterfront Park this autumn. The composition was created by design duo Theory of Imagination by Noura Alwan and Abdallah Bouhiji. The work was chosen from more than 100 applications.
According to the designers, the point of the work is to create a space that promotes inclusivity and creativity, attracting visitors of all ages. The project is part of the Dubai Public Art initiative, which installs sculptures created by local artists in Dubai.
The AED 2 million project aims to improve the quality of life in Dubai and develop the creative economy cluster, among other things. Thanks to the initiative, works by local artists will appear in key cultural centres, such as Jaddaf Waterfront Park.
Earlier, Dubai ranked first among all cities in the world in terms of the number of cultural and creative projects funded by foreign direct investment. 451 projects attracted FDI in 2022, up 107 per cent from a year earlier.
Total FDI in the creative sector reached AED 7.36bn (US$ 2bn). This figure puts Dubai in the leading position in the MENA region and 12th in the world (in 2021, Dubai ranked 14th).
The emirate is known to attract innovators and talented individuals from around the world, offering them a conducive environment in which they can realise their innovative projects, bring pioneering ideas to life and transform ambitious concepts into thriving economic enterprises.
