Dubai-Sharjah ferry service resumes

Ferry services between Dubai and Sharjah will resume from 4 August. The sea passenger vessels will operate eight trips per day from Monday to Thursday and six trips per day from Friday to Sunday, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority said.

As is known, the movement of this mode of transport between the emirates was first launched in 2019 and suspended during the days of the pandemic. Now ferries will once again run between Al Ghubaiba station and Sharjah Aquarium. The journey time is 35 minutes.

On weekdays, two ferries depart from Sharjah at 07:00 and 8:30, and from Dubai at 07:45. In the evening, ferries depart from Sharjah at 16:45 and 18:15 (two trips) and from Dubai at 16:00, 17:30 and 19:00 (three trips).

From Friday to Sunday, there will be three trips each way, starting at midday. Departures from Sharjah are scheduled for 14:00, 16:00 and 18:00, and from Dubai for 15:00, 17:00 and 20:00.The single fare for silver class is AED 15 and for gold class is AED 25.

Back in June, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority switches sea and water taxis, ferries and passenger boats to a summer timetable. The transport runs based on passenger demand during the summer period.

It is noted that the measure is standard – so, the authorities use big data to analyse passenger traffic and adjust the schedule based on the data to make the movement of ferry transport more efficient.
