Madame Tussauds Dubai museum adds Benazir Bhutto to its collection

The collection of Dubai’s Madame Tussauds Museum has been enriched with a wax figure of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. It is worth noting that this is the first figure of the Pakistani representative presented in the exposition.

Benazir Bhutto is one of the most spectacular political figures of the twentieth century, which the people of Pakistan called “Black Rose”. An independent and determined woman who graduated from Harvard and Oxford, she was often compared to Cleopatra.

Benazir Bhutto was born on 21 June 1953 in Karachi. She came from the oldest aristocratic family. In 1978 she joined the leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party founded by her father, and from 1982 she actually headed it.

In 1988, she became the first female head of government in the Islamic world. She simultaneously headed the ministries of Defence, Finance, Science and Technology. She also served as Prime Minister of Pakistan and Minister of Finance from 1993 to 1996.

In 1999, she emigrated to Dubai due to prosecution on corruption charges. In 2007, at the age of 54, she returned to Pakistan, where she died on 27 December from wounds sustained in a suicide attack after an election rally in Rawalpindi.

Benazir Bhutto was often referred to in the media as the “Iron Lady of the East”. She entered the Guinness Book of Records as the most popular politician of 1995. Experts noted her “keen political acumen, ability to manoeuvre and inspire confidence”.

The exhibition at Madame Tussauds in Dubai features figures of 60 world superstars, including 16 wax doubles of celebrities from the Middle East.

Visitors will meet pop singers Balkis Fathi, Nancy Ajram and Maya Diab, Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, popular blogger Kylie Jener, model Cara Delevingne and other famous personalities.

The museum building is located next to the world’s largest Ferris wheel Ain Dubai and other attractions of Bluewaters Dubai.
