Traffic jams in Dubai
Traffic jams situation in Dubai is better than in Los Angeles, London, Rome and Sydney, according to the TomTom report. Thus, Dubai was among the top 100 cities in the world with the most favourable traffic situation.
To compile the report, traffic jams in 390 cities and 56 countries on six continents were analysed. As it is specified in the rating, in the centre of Dubai it is possible to overcome a distance of 10 km by car in only 12 minutes.
The first place was taken by the city of Almere in the Netherlands with an indicator of eight minutes per 10 km, the last – London (36 minutes per 10 km). It is noted that in Dubai the average speed of traffic flow in urban areas is 59 km / h. For example, in Bogota (Colombia), this speed is 19 km / h and in Greensboro in the United States is 74 km / h.
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has previously launched a corporate platform in collaboration with global companies to test artificial intelligence technologies to improve traffic conditions and combat congestion on highways.
The technology will also be used to plan preventive maintenance of roads and bridges, as well as new public transport routes and passenger flow management. Ultimately, the platform will contribute to making Dubai the smartest city in the world.
AI technologies will help plan the construction of new highways, interchanges and other road transport infrastructure. By 2031, AI technologies are planned to be incorporated into all departmental processes.
