Golf courses in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are world famous
The largest metropolises of the United Arab Emirates – Dubai and Abu Dhabi – are known not only for their stunning skyscrapers, entertainment parks and unique museums. Tourists also pay great attention to sports facilities.
For example, two golf courses were among the top ten most popular in the world in the rating compiled by Galvin Green, a brand of high-tech premium golf clothing. This can largely be attributed to the fact that the UAE hosts world-class golf tournaments.
Emirates Golf Club was ranked fourth in the world rankings, while Abu Dhabi Golf Club was ranked seventh. The study revealed how many visitors the world’s golf clubs attracted to their social media pages.
First place went to Augusta National, a club based in Georgia, USA, with 107,119 hashtags on Instagram and 54,050 average monthly search volume. The capital’s Abu Dhabi Golf Club, by comparison, amassed 8,675 hashtags and around 5,000 searches (per month).
Emirates Golf Club, which hosts the European Omega Dubai Desert Classic, is one of the most famous golf clubs in the Middle East. It is home to three magnificent courses: Majlis, Faldo and a Par 3 academy course for beginner golfers, as well as a stroke practice area and an equipment shop.
Meanwhile, golf is not the only focus of the club. The developed infrastructure includes a swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, squash courts and paddle tennis halls.
The Abu Dhabi Golf Club, designed by Peter Harradine in 1998, is a 27-hole championship course that has been welcoming guests since 2000. This golf club has hosted the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship international tournament 16 times.
