RTA and HIPA launch mobile photography competition

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with the Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA), Crown Prince of Dubai, has announced the launch of its third mobile photography competition.

This year’s theme is the emirate’s eco-friendly transport. Works will be accepted from 25 September to 15 October 2023. Entries can be submitted via personal Instagram accounts with the hashtag #RTAxHIPA.Winners will receive cash prizes worth up to AED 30,000.

The main desire of the mobile photography competition organisers is to raise awareness of the importance of environmentally friendly transport for the future of mankind. Professional and amateur photographers, residents of the emirate or tourists, can enter the competition by capturing the aesthetics of Dubai’s public transport, including metro, trams, buses, water taxis, ferries, abras and more.

According to HIPA Secretary General, Ali Khalifa bin Talit, the sustainability strategy plays a huge role in shaping lifestyles for both UAE residents and the world. The photography competition will serve as a visual translator of Emirati aspirations for a clean and bright future for us and our descendants.

RTA spokesperson, Yousef Al Rida, said that the competition, timed to coincide with the Year of Sustainable Development 2023, aims to encourage UAE citizens, tourists and visitors to promote the convenience and environmental friendliness of Dubai’s public transport through smartphone cameras. Thanks to the competition, each participant has the opportunity to contribute to the emirate’s transport infrastructure development story.

We would like to remind you that continuous improvement and expansion of the road network, crossings and types of public transport, improvement of traffic conditions for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as modernisation of transport infrastructure in general make Dubai’s public transport not only the most accessible, but also the most convenient in the world.
