Youth Theatre Festival returns to Dubai

Dubai Culture is once again opening venues for art lovers as part of the Dubai Youth Theatre Festival, which will take place from 21 to 28 October. This year’s festival will feature 6 local theatre companies. With a focus on discovering talent, the festival is an ideal platform for the development of the local theatre industry.

The festival, organised annually by Dubai Culture, aims to introduce audiences to the work of UAE theatre companies, providing a platform for new talent and those already working in the sector.

During this year’s festival, theatre director, playwright and media personality Jamal Matar will be awarded the title of Theatre Personality of the Year during the festival in recognition of his significant contribution to the local theatre movement and his work in the media sector.

To evaluate the work of the participants, Dubai Culture usually forms a panel that reviews productions by various theatre companies. This ensures that the content meets the set criteria for a transparent and fair evaluation of the participating teams.

Youth Theatre Festival is also a platform where aspiring actors, directors, authors, interior designers, producers, make-up artists, sound designers, as well as visual and light show specialists and fashion designers can showcase their skills to a wider audience.
