The Green Planet launches play park

The Green Planet has opened a nature park under a glass dome with tree houses, a rope park, botanical garden and nature trail. The park, designed for children aged 4 to 14, has nine separate areas featuring plants from around the world.

From lush palms and deciduous tropical species to elegant orchids, the park features a variety of plants from around the world. There is also a separate soft play area with fun animal designs.

“Our nature park, which covers an area of more than 1,000 square metres, also features animatronic models of insects such as tarantulas, millipedes, snails,” said Erik Rorkaste, curator of The Green Planet.

“So kids will first be introduced to the insect models and then they will go inside the bio-dome and see the real ones.”

According to Eric, The Green Planet focuses on teaching children animal knowledge.

“We have a very extensive educational programme,” he said. “You don’t just see the animals, you go through their home. You see lemurs jumping past you and birds flying right by you. It’s a unique experience, especially out here in the desert.”

“We also focus on conservation of species in need,” added Rorcaste.

A full-day ticket for a child and accompanying adult costs AED 69 and gives access to the nature park, soft play area and café.

From 6 to 31 October 2023 to celebrate Halloween, Spooky Planet will transform The Green Planet park into a wonderland decorated with spooky cobwebs, bizarre tombstones and Halloween pumpkins. A ticket costs just AED 65. For thrill-seekers, a scare maze is included in the ticket.

The Green Planet, first opened in 2016, is the only indoor rainforest in the region and is home to more than 3,000 plants and animals including birds, reptiles and fish.
