Expand North Star 2023 kicks off in Dubai

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, launched Expand North Star 2023, the world’s largest startup exhibition and conference, on Sunday, 15 October 2023. The exhibition will take place over four days at Dubai Harbour.

More than 1,800 startups from over 100 countries will be showcased at the Expand North Star 2023, which will also be attended by over 1,000 investors managing more than US$1 trillion in assets.

In addition, Gitex Global, the largest gathering of technology companies, opened at Dubai World Trade Centre on Monday, October 16, and will be attended by more than 6,000 companies.

“We strongly believe in the ability of our national cadres to drive the growth of the digital economy and strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading international centre for digital innovation, while fostering the development of innovative technologies and artificial intelligence-based solutions,” Sheikh Al Maktoum said.

“As the digital economy is a critical element of Dubai’s economic programme (D33), hosting this event is in line with our commitment to create new economic value through digital transformation with an estimated annual value of Dh100 billion,” he added.

Saeed Al Gergawi, vice president of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, said this year’s North Star Dubai builds on the success of last year’s show, which led to the launch of around 150 startups in the UAE as a result of deals struck during the show.

The event will showcase a number of new initiatives, including India Central, which will be the largest showcase of the Indian tech startup ecosystem, with around 300 companies participating.
