Dubai helps to combine work and leisure

Dubai has become one of the world’s leading destinations where remote workers and freelancers can combine work and a variety of leisure activities, according to a study by German company WorkMotion.

Dubai’s popularity started to grow strongly after the introduction of flexible working hours in many companies. While in Dubai, workers can complete their tasks and enjoy a change of scenery at the same time.

The study evaluated factors such as visa regulations, infrastructure for remote working, security, mobility, happiness levels, city accessibility and income tax rates. The first place ranking among all cities in the world went to Barcelona.

Dubai came second in the ranking and was the only destination to offer a zero income tax rate. Thus, the emirate has become the preferred city for employees wishing to minimise tax costs.

In terms of safety, Dubai was second only to Switzerland’s Bern. Dubai’s high score was fuelled by its strict law enforcement policy and zero tolerance for crime, coupled with an effective and rapid police response to emergencies.

As winter approaches, digital nomads move to warmer climes such as the UAE, where the average winter temperature is + 22.6°C. They can also enjoy warm weather, beach holidays and a high quality of life.

Remote workers who move to Dubai for the winter should bring lightweight clothing and also stock up on sunscreen, as the sun shines for at least 8.6 hours a day in winter. Also, Dubai offers clean streets and advanced infrastructure to freelancers.
