Dubai markets with Arab souvenirs

Department of Economy and Tourism of Dubai has compiled a new selection of markets and shopping centres where visitors to the emirate can buy traditional Arab souvenirs and goods.

Gold Souk Gold Market is one of the oldest souks in Dubai. The wide range of jewellery attracts tourists from all over the world: some come here as a museum, others to buy something special. In addition to gold, the market sells pearls, platinum, silver and diamond jewellery.

At the Spice Souk spice market in the historic part of Dubai, the stalls are full of exotic spices and savouries. The friendly sellers are always ready to tell you in detail about the peculiarities of using this or that spice.

Perfumery is an integral part of Arabian culture. Nowhere in Dubai will you find such an abundance of perfumes as at the Perfume Souk perfume market. The former Naif Camel Market offers a wide range of Arabian souvenirs, leather goods, clothing and other items. To fully absorb the charm of the Oriental souk, it is best to come here in the evening hours.

Souk Al Bahar is a modern shopping complex, styled as a Middle Eastern market, located in the heart of Dubai, near the ‘singing’ fountains.

Souk Madinat Jumeirah, located within the Madinat Jumeirah resort complex, has around 25 shops and galleries. It sells perfumes, Arabic lanterns, spices and other authentic handmade souvenirs. At Souk Al Bahar and Souk Madinat Jumeirah, tourists can combine shopping with entertainment and dining at popular restaurants.

As you know, in 2023, the Dubai Shopping Festival will start earlier than usual: according to Dubai Festivals and Retail Estate (DFRE), it will start as early as December 8 and run until January 14, 2024.

The shopping extravaganza, which will be the Emirate’s 29th edition, will last 38 days and will cover all areas of Dubai. On 15 December, Arab stars Ahlam Al Shamsi and Assala Nasri will perform at the Coca-Cola Arena.

Popular street culture festival Sole DXB will return with live performances celebrating 50 years of hip-hop – it will be part of the Dubai Shopping Festival for the first time and will take place from 8-10 December in Dubai Design District.

Earthsoul Fest will include raucous comedy shows headlined by prominent comedians. In addition, Dubai residents and visitors can expect concerts by Kazim Al Saher, Omar Khairat, George Wassouf and Majid Al Mohandis.

Traditionally, the festival will offer shoppers sales, discounts, special prizes and raffles, new pavilions with exclusive locally produced goods and much more.
