Gingerbread lift operates in Dubai

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dubai has unveiled its latest culinary masterpiece: the first ever gingerbread express lift. Visitors can take it up to The Hamper Shop, which has also undergone a seasonal refurbishment and now looks like a gingerbread house. The lift has become the centrepiece of a Christmas wonderland that can enchant guests of all ages.

The edible lift will be open until Sunday 7 January and can be visited from 9:00 to 21:00 daily.

Both outside and inside, the lift is decorated with real gingerbread and sweets. The edible work of art, created by the hotel’s chefs, is fully functional.

On the outside, the lift has been shaped into the shape of a house, using biscuits as bricks. Decorated with gifts and “snow”, it is perfect for photo shoots.

Inside the lift is an artificial fireplace with Christmas socks hanging from it and a screen displaying a soothing snowy picture. Festive decorations of sweets, lollies and gingerbread hang throughout the lift, culminating in a clock made entirely of sweets heralding the arrival of the Gingerbread Express.

The Hamper Shop promises an extraordinary experience for those looking for the perfect festive treats and gifts. Here, you can enjoy Christmas desserts including Christmas logs, stollen, fudge, puddings and mince pies.
