Christmas Village opens at Expo City Dubai
Expo City Dubai will transform into a magical winter city after COP28 and Santa Claus will not only bring joy to adults and children alike, but also talk about climate change.
To kick off the festive fun, Dubai residents and visitors are invited to attend the unveiling of the giant Christmas tree on Friday, 15 December at 6pm.
The winter town will be open from 3pm to 11pm, with admission costing from AED 20 for adults and free for children under 12.For Carols by Candlelight ticket holders, entry will also be free. There is an additional charge for some events and workshops. All the necessary information is available on the Expo City Dubai website.
According to Expo City Dubai, recycled materials from last year’s Christmas tree have been used to create the tree and it will be at the heart of the celebrations. The Al Wasl Dome is dressed up with reused ornaments, and throughout the village, visitors will be able to complete climate challenges, collect stamps, and join elves in eco workshops.
There will also be an eco-toy factory where children can make their own toys from recycled materials and learn more about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
In keeping with COP28’s heritage, the village will feature a host of eco-friendly festive activities that will raise climate awareness and promote mindful living, including Santa’s eco-friendly house, Mrs Claus’ Bakery, Toy Factory and Frosty’s Farm.
Another attraction for visitors will be the opportunity to put their name on a “naughty” or “nice” list.
Every corner of the magical village deserves attention: there is a chalet-style Christmas market, lots of snow-covered trees, fun carnival games, and the opportunity to have your photo taken with a reindeer sleigh and the popular Opti robot.
And Carols by Candlelight will run from December 20 to 24 with a variety of entertainment and nightly projection shows.
