Dubai launches ‘New Year’ sea ferries
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has offered residents and visitors to the emirate to enjoy New Year’s Eve fireworks from aboard water transport: ferries, abra boats (open or covered) or water taxis, which will operate in the water area on the night of 1 January 2024.
As specified by the department, the ferries will offer a view of the Dubai skyline, which will be lit up with fireworks on New Year’s Eve. Tickets can be booked on the RTA’s official website and no account creation is required.
The website has created a “New Year’s Eve” tab especially for the convenience of residents and tourists. The offer turned out to be so interesting that most of the tickets are already sold out.
As previously reported, those who are going to celebrate the year 2024 in the Downtown area and want to take a good seat overlooking the fountains and laser show on the Burj Khalifa skyscraper should book a table at a nearby restaurant in advance.
The free fireworks viewing area in Downtown will be open from 16:00. It is worth noting that Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will be closed from 18:00 on 31 December until 01:00 or 02:00 on 1 January. The car park outside Dubai Mall will operate on a first-come, first-served basis until there are no spaces left.
Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station may be closed depending on the congestion at the mall, starting from 14:00. Taxis will operate as normal until Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard closes.
For those planning to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the Palm Jumeirah neighbourhood, the monorail is the best option. You can transfer to it at the Palm Gateway station, which is connected to the tram line. The Palm Monorail will operate from 9:00am on 31 December 2023 to 3:00am on 1 January 2024. A free shuttle bus from Nakheel Mall to the waterfront fireworks viewing point will operate from 8:00pm to 03:00am.
No road closures are expected in the Jumeirah Beach Residence or Dubai Marina areas, but it is advisable to take the metro or tram to your destination to avoid traffic jams.
