‘7 Days – 7 Emirates’ bike ride kicks off in UAE

Ride for Unity’s first bike ride called ‘7 Days – 7 Emirates’ started on January 6 and will continue until January 12. The main goal of the event is to promote unity, tolerance, diversity and sustainable development.

The rally started on Saturday in Dubai, will continue to Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, Sharjah, and will end in Abu Dhabi.

Business forums, cultural visits, meetings with educational institutions and charitable organisations will be held along the way.

Sareh Ameri, managing director of Ride for Unity, which promotes unity and tolerance through sport, says the organisation intends to highlight the uniqueness of each emirate. “The UAE is a living, breathing example of our values: unity, diversity, tolerance and sustainability,” she said.

Daniel Bernard, one of the event’s participants, said it was a great opportunity to bring people together, “In today’s turbulent world, it is important to instil the values of diversity and tolerance, and teach resilience for a better future.”

And according to Justin Levene, who is riding a hand-powered bike, the cycle ride epitomises the power of sport and how a community’s life values can be used in all areas.

“We have an incredibly diverse team assembled for this ride and, although our lives are completely different, we are all united by sport and the huge positive impact it has on us and the people around us,” said Mr Levene.

The runners will travel from Fujairah to the Dibba Coral Conservation Site before travelling to Ras Al Khaimah for a business forum with the RAK Development Department and RAK American University, followed by an interactive workshop at WellSpring Private School.

The ‘7 Days – 7 Emirates’ bike ride participants will then visit mangrove plantations in Umm Al Quwain, Ajman National Charity School, House of Wisdom in Sharjah and Dubai, visit the Senses boarding school and a nursery school for children with special needs, and hold a workshop at the American University of Dubai.

The run will conclude in Abu Dhabi with a grand gala dinner at Wolfi’s Restaurant on Hudayriat Island.
