Cultural bus to operate between Abu Dhabi and Dubai
The United Arab Emirates has relaunched a “cultural” bus – for Abu Dhabi residents wishing to attend art events in Dubai. One of the closest flights is scheduled for Sunday, 28 January, when Dubai will host the Al Quoz Arts Fest.
The bus departs from 421 Arts Campus in the UAE capital at 2pm and arrives in Dubai at 3.30pm. On the return journey, it departs Dubai at 18:30 and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 20:00. The round-trip fare is AED 30, and during the hours in Dubai, visitors to the capital can explore art exhibitions and installations in galleries, attend performances and take part in discussions.
In early March, the cultural bus will bring visitors to Art Dubai, a leading international art fair that will bring together talent from around the world and the Middle East region.
Exhibitions of bespoke works, premieres by international artists, and a range of panel discussions and educational programmes are included in the Art Dubai 2024 programme. The event, which begins on 1 March and runs until 3 March, will showcase new works by internationally renowned artists at Madinat Jumeirah.
Art Dubai artistic director Pablo del Val said the 2024 programme reflects “the increasingly diverse and multicultural communities of our home city, providing even more opportunities for artists from across the Global South”.
Canadian-Korean artist Krista Kim will present Heart Space, a digital installation through which each visitor will see their heartbeat displayed in mesmerising patterns on the installation’s LED canvas.
The Swiss watchmaking company Piaget will present an exhibition called “The House of Gold”. It will focus on luxury goods, showcasing a series of high-end jewellery and watches, heritage pieces and private collections.
