Dubai Schools project adds thousands of school places
The ambitious Dubai Schools project will add more than 6,400 more school places, 295 classrooms and a new school in the emirate, increasing the total number of places on offer to 15,000 by 2033. The AED 530 million budget was approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
The Dubai Schools project is in line with the objectives of Dubai Social Agenda 33, which aims to improve the quality of education in Dubai and position it among the top 10 cities in the world.
The schools built as part of the project currently have a total of 2,580 students from 38 different nationalities.
The project aims to create a world-class education system in the emirate with a focus on increasing the number of schools and places, investing in new technologies and facilities, and promoting innovation and creativity in the classroom.
“We aim to create an innovative education system in Dubai that can nurture and empower future leaders,” Sheikh Hamdan said.
As part of the project, a new school is being built in Al Khawaneej and the Dubai Schools Al Barsha branch is being expanded.
The new 446,720 square foot school in Al Khawaneej will accommodate 4,028 students from kindergarten to grade 12.
The state-of-the-art facility is being built to international standards and offers 149 classrooms, 71 laboratories and specialised classrooms equipped with advanced technology.
The expansion of Al Barsha Branch will increase its capacity by adding 2,408 seats in 98 new classrooms, bringing the total capacity to 3,520 students upon completion.
The Knowledge Foundation and Dubai Municipality announced that the projects have reached 50 per cent completion and both projects are expected to be ready for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Launched in March 2021, the Dubai Schools project aims to create an innovative school model offering high quality education at an affordable price.
