Dubai welcomed record number of tourists
The year 2023 was an exceptional year for Dubai in terms of tourism development as the emirate welcomed a record 17 million international travellers, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, said on social media X.
He said these achievements are in line with the objectives of Dubai Economic Strategy D33 to make the emirate one of the world’s top three cities for business and tourism. Tourist traffic growth was recorded at 19.4 per cent.
Thus, Dubai continues to consolidate its position as a first-class global destination. The tourism sector showed an impressive hotel occupancy rate of 77.4 per cent, one of the highest in the world.
At the beginning of 2024, Dubai once again topped the annual ranking of the world’s best tourist destinations in the Travelers’ Choice Awards, compiled by the online portal Tripadvisor. Travellers for the third time gave their preferences to the emirate, which aspires to become the best city on Earth.
Dubai became the first city to receive such recognition three times in a row. The achievements of Dubai’s tourism sector, which seemed like a pipe dream a few decades ago, have now become a tangible reality.
In Dubai, modern culture is intertwined with history, and outdoor adventure is juxtaposed with world-class shopping and entertainment, according to the Tripadvisor ranking.
From visiting the Burj Khalifa skyscraper to strolling through a traditional gold and spice market in the historic district, Dubai has something for everyone. The online portal notes that people from all over the world come to warm themselves in Dubai, where luxury meets hospitality at any time of the year.
