Dubai Future Foundation unveils 10 global trends
Dubai Future Foundation has unveiled 10 global trends that will change the world at the World Government Summit (WGS) 2024 under the theme ‘Shaping the Governments of the Future’.
Materials Revolution: AI-driven developments such as biopolymers, biofactories and chemical processing will drive the creation of new eco-materials that can compete with plastics.
Borderless multi-dimensional data: With developments such as 5G and 6G and advanced connectivity, data availability will increase dramatically. The concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) will continue to be adopted across the board, especially in the Middle East.
Technological vulnerabilities: The cybersecurity sector will also boom. According to a report by Allianz, annual spending on defence against attacks will reach US$ 265 billion by 2031.
Energy Frontiers: Advances in technology and growing demand will drive the search for alternative and improved sources of energy, as well as the distribution of energy around the world.
Saving ecosystems: Approaches to conservation will also change. Driven by resource scarcity, climate change, and shifts in social values, conservation will become more holistic.
Borderless World – Dynamic Economy: The world is witnessing an increase in cross-border transactions in many areas, resulting in the blurring of borders. Advances in communications, computing and advanced machine intelligence will accelerate the creation of a borderless world that will transform the way we work, live and socialise.
Digital Realities: When quantum technologies become scalable and reliable, immersive experiences will become even more realistic and rewarding.
Living with robots and automation: Robotics and automation will be increasingly used not only in manufacturing, but also in ordinary life.
Humanity of the future: New work norms will emerge and people will have to adapt to non-traditional skill sets in areas such as digital literacy, communications, culture and sustainability.
Improved health and nutrition: Accelerated progress will change health and nutrition norms for the better. Technology will reduce, and possibly eradicate, many diseases.
