Mass sale launched in the UAE

Internet giant Amazon has launched a massive sale in the United Arab Emirates to coincide with the start of the holy month of Ramadan.

From 28 February to 8 March 2024, shoppers can buy thousands of products across all categories at discounts of up to 50%. For Amazon Prime members, the sale started already on 27 February.

Discounts ranging from 42% to 70% will apply to items in the Amazon Fresh category, which includes fruits, vegetables and cooking essentials.

In addition, special prices will be offered by home appliance brands Black+Decker, Nespresso, Midea and Nutrichef, and electronics brands Samsung, Vivo, Lenovo and Microsoft. IdeaPad gaming accessories and personal care products will be available at favourable prices.

As we know, the holy month of Ramadan in the UAE is dominated by spirituality and a measured pace of life. Many familiar aspects of this holy holiday usually change, from shorter working hours to free parking days.

According to the Hijra calendar published by Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charities Department (IACAD), Ramadan will begin on Tuesday, 12 March 2024.

As a general rule, cafes and restaurants operate as normal during Ramadan. However, it is worth remembering that according to Visit Dubai, while non-Muslims are not obliged to avoid eating and drinking in public places during the day, they may do so out of respect for believers.

Iftar is important during Ramadan, as the Maghrib prayer is followed by a break in the day’s fasting. Iftar is a time when family and friends get together and enjoy a special meal. Many hotels and restaurants in Dubai offer feasts, discounts and special menus for iftar.

It’s also worth remembering that, due to the shortened and relaxed working day, fasting Muslims can perform most of the five daily prayers in mosques. Because of this, mosques are usually crowded, especially during special prayers.
