Dubai offers festive entertainment

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced the launch of a series of diverse initiatives and public events to celebrate Ramadan.

Dubai Culture will organise a series of events at its venues called Ramadan Nights, the first of which will be celebrated at Etihad Museum on 15 and 16 March and will focus on the UAE’s involvement in the development and construction of the Lunar Space Station.

In collaboration with Dubai Astronomy Group and Gulf Photo Plus, a series of entertaining shows and workshops will be held, allowing participants to explore the mysteries of space and the planets through a mobile planetarium and telescope observation stations.

As part of Ramadan Nights, visitors to Al Shindagha Museum, the UAE’s largest heritage museum, will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of Ramadan-related activities from 22 to 31 March. The Traditional Crafts House will host a workshop on traditional Arabic dress making and embroidery.

At the Safeefa Rug Tufting workshop, participants will learn the technique of rug weaving using palm branches. Visitors to the Perfume House will learn the secrets of making scented candles and eco-friendly chimney sweeping techniques, as well as how to create unique fragrances.

Interactive masterclasses will offer children the opportunity to create plaster crafts, learn how to make henna, make traditional Emirati jewellery and learn about folk games.

Families will also be given tours of homes in the historic Al Shindagha neighbourhood accompanied by traditional folk songs and poems. Dubai Culture, in collaboration with the EmpowerHer initiative, will organise a Ramadan market that will feature a wide range of products created by local talents.
