Jumeirah 1 is nearing the end of a redevelopment that will see a resort development called J1 Beach take the place of La Mer. The new beachfront area will include 13 restaurants and several beach clubs. The opening of J1 Beach is announced for autumn 2024.
Already announced are the opening of French restaurant African Queen, Lebanese fusion concept Almayass by the Sea, exclusive beachfront complex Chouchou, Mexican restaurant Gitano, Spanish-Mediterranean Lúnico, and Kaimana, specialising in Polynesian dishes with an Asian accent.
The resort will also be home to renowned beach clubs Sirene Beach by Gaia, Bâoli and Gigi Rigolatto. Gastroconcept Sakhalin, haute cuisine restaurant Mūn and New York’s La Baia are also preparing to open.
As previously revealed, the five-star Gran Melia Dubai resort and Zuma Dubai Beachhouse will debut in Dubai’s La Mer neighbourhood in 2025. The hotel will have access to the Port de La Mer Marina and will offer 380 guest rooms with sea and cityscape views.
The hotel will have easy access to the marina and will also feature an event hall with a capacity of more than 1,000 people. The Gran Meliá Dubai Jumeirah is scheduled to open in the last quarter of 2025.
In turn, Zuma Beach Club will be located on the beachfront, between Pearl Jumeirah and Jumeirah Bay. The 140-metre stretch of beach will feature a lounge and bar, a pool overlooking the sea and a DJ to entertain guests throughout the day. The beachside venue will be open for lunch, offering creative cocktails and izakaya menus in a new setting.
