Volunteering helps to get Golden Visa in UAE

Volunteering in the UAE attracts the attention of many people from all over the world. The country has a number of programmes for those wishing to become volunteers. In addition, working as a volunteer in the Emirates gives the opportunity to obtain a “Golden Visa” – a residence permit that allows you to stay in the country for 10 years if certain eligibility criteria are met.

According to the UAE Federal Authority for Identification, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), a person can qualify for the visa if he or she belongs to one of the following categories: members of international and regional organisations or outstanding employees in them for at least 5 years, members of public benefit associations and institutions or outstanding employees in them for at least 5 years.

In addition, holders of commendation awards from one of the local, regional or international agencies specialising in humanitarian work; outstanding volunteers in the field of humanitarian aid for a period of at least 5 years or 500 hours of volunteer work; people who have made a financial investment in humanitarian work of at least AED 2 million or its equivalent are eligible to apply for this visa.
