UAE police to go to the Olympic Games
The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Interior has announced that the country’s police will protect public order at the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
In response to France’s invitation, a team of Emirati police officers, comprising highly trained officers and specialised units from various UAE police forces, have undergone rigorous field exercises and language courses ahead of the global event.
The team has also received specialised training in dealing with various security scenarios, implementing security plans, first aid, as well as French language lessons to improve integration and communication with the local population.
The initiative underlines the UAE’s commitment to international co-operation in ensuring the security and smooth running of major sporting events.
Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasised the significance of the mission, saying, “The police officers will leave for friendly France next week and become part of the international police system. We want them to integrate smoothly into society, and serve in the same way they serve in the UAE.”
The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, due to start on 26 July, will be attended by athletes and spectators from around the world, including 14 Emirati male and female athletes.
