Dubai hosts free contemporary art exhibitions
Residents and visitors to Dubai have been reminded of the free contemporary art exhibitions taking place in the Alserkal Avenue Art Quarter.
For example, until 20 September, Leila Heller Gallery is hosting an exhibition that will immerse guests in a fascinating world of creative expression. Carpets of Eden, Gardens of Fantasy reinterprets classic art motifs in a contemporary way. More than 20 artists have created compelling stories through the texture of carpets and unusual symbols on fabrics.
The Future of the Past exhibition combines an intriguing mix of historical heritage and contemporary culture. From 26 September to 18 October, the exhibition presents familiar symbols in a new light, offering guests a step into a time machine where the past and the future are intertwined. Magnus Gjoen, the author of the exhibition, invites visitors to reflect on how the past shapes our future.
Alserkal Avenue is the city’s creative space with over 40 art galleries, dance studios, trendy cafes, etc. It hosts contemporary art exhibitions and open-air festivals.
Earlier, Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism updated the list of free cultural options in the city ahead of the new tourist season.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Library is Dubai’s cultural and educational centre on the Dubai Creek waterfront. It houses over one million printed and digital books in various languages, rare manuscripts, a café, patio, bookstore, and an amphitheatre with a sliding roof.
