New bridge opened in Dubai
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Monday the opening of a new bridge on Al Khail Road between Al Khamila and Hessa Street junctions to improve traffic towards Deira. The two-lane bridge is capable of carrying 3,200 vehicles per hour.
The project also included 900 metres of road surface improvements.
According to RTA, the 700-metre bridge aims to relieve traffic from Jumeirah Village Circle to Al Khail Road towards Deira, connecting residential and developing areas to achieve transport efficiency.
It is worth recalling that on 15 September, RTA announced the opening of two new bridges near the intersection of Garn Al Sabkha Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311).
The Garn Al Sabkha-Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road Intersection Improvement Project will not only reduce motorists’ travelling time by 2-3 times. It also includes road works on a 7 kilometre stretch, intersection improvements, installation of streetlights, traffic lights and drainage systems.
The project is part of the RTA’s master plan to develop strategic east-west transport corridors that can support current and future traffic volumes.
According to Mattar Al Tayer, CEO and Chairman of the RTA’s Board of Executive Directors, the project is expected to reduce travelling time for motorists by 70 per cent.
